The Days of Organization
The Play of the Days of Organization" unfolds over a single night on a suspect balcony where three friends reunite: Younes, recently returned from abroad after a long absence; Moussa, a candidate for local government leadership; and Rajaa, a religious woman who runs a currency exchange. Their common bond is their past as founding members of an active political organization during their youth. This trio gathers to reminisce about their beautiful past and contribute to the undermining of what remains of it, and perhaps of us too. The play distinctly and ominously brings to the surface relationships and emotions of love, hatred, greed, jealousy, selfishness, and self-destruction, against the backdrop of a fragile Palestinian society in Israel, unprepared for any new kind of disaster. Are we ready for that?
"Ayam Al-Tanzim" (Days of the Organization) is a play about the intersections of politics, crime, and money in Palestinian society within Israel. It bravely examines the transformation of this society from a fertile ground for political movements in the 1970s and 1980s into a hotbed for organized crime and political and economic corruption in contemporary times.
